U.S. Micro - Proven Success Study #2
Background
In 2005, U.S. Micro took over the disposal process for an organization with 40,000
notebook computers in offices throughout the US, including Hawaii.
For the first time, this customer considered asset disposal
a profit center for their business.
Accomplishments
Initial Impact
- U.S. Micro dramatically changed this customer's view of ITAD
by turning disposal into a profit center while maintaining a high
level of security and confidence. When this customer asked
their previous vendor to accomplish this—while maintaining U.S.
Micro’s level of security and environmental sustainability—the vendor declined.
The customer promptly severed the relationship with
their previous vendor.
- Provided prompt, professional service: a relief for this customer
after many late pickups, lost equipment, and unprofessional service from
truckers subcontracted by the previous vendor.
Ongoing
- U.S. Micro retrieves and disposes of over 12,000 data bearing assets across the United States for
this customer annually.
- Developed the use of two-key it asset safes for securing loose drives between pickups. Similar to
a safe deposit box, these safes require a U.S. Micro Technician as well as a manager from the Customer to
open. This security initiative provided a cost effective means to protect replaced drives between scheduled
disposition pickups.
- U.S. Micro launched a green IT asset disposition initiative for employees of the
customer company. Employees can bring in their personal home technology assets.
U.S. Micro will wipe each hard drive individually, and will send a certificate
to the employee verifying secure and environmentally friendly disposal of the
asset. (Learn more about our Employee Take Back Days
