Background

U.S. Micro customer with approximately 300,000 employees in over 3000 offices throughout the United States, including Alaska. U.S. Micro is one of ONE approved IT Asset Disposition vendors for this organization.

Accomplishments

Initial Impact

• To this customer, data security was paramount. In response, U.S. Micro formulated a company-wide data security policy that resulted in U.S. Micro powering up every data bearing device at every customer location to verify the presence of encryption, and initiate on-site drive wipe or secure asset destruction if necessary.

Ongoing

• As part of a security check for specific office locations, U.S. Micro certified field technicians visited over 700 locations in just 9 weeks to inventory and verify on-site the presence of encryption on every data bearing asset.
• In addition to the security check, U.S. Micro was contracted to redeploy a certain number of higher-end technology assets, while purchasing any remaining equipment. Just another example of U.S. Micro's robust logistical infrastructure.
• When this customer acquired another organization, U.S. Micro certified field technicians travelled to 70+ locations in Puerto Rico to inventory all IT assets of the acquisition in just one month. U.S. Micro also provided on-site inventory, removal, and purchase of assets in Panama, Aruba, Curacao, Bonaire, St. Maarten, and Trinidad—using ONLY our trained professional Field Technicians.
• In 2010, the number of assets to be disposed of increased to over 125,000 per year. All assets are still handled by ONLY U.S. Micro trained technicians without the use of subcontractors.
