  • Never allow equipment to leave your site before all
    data is destroyed
  • Destroy devices onsite at your location when data
    cannot be properly wiped
  • Remember the not-so-obvious data-containing devices, e.g., copiers, smart phones, USB drives, etc.
  • Wipe all hard drives before removing them from
    devices
  • Electronically track inventory at EACH step of the ITAD process to eliminate human error – before data sanitization, post wipe and post shipment
  • Receive a system-generated real-time final report verifying data sanitization before shipping offsite
  • Negotiate an upfront purchase agreement to immediately transfer ownership eliminating risk
  • Use only financially stable, insured vedors with proven track records
  • Avoid vendors who use third party sub-contractors
  • Do not refurbish/resell data-storing devices if they cannot be wiped
  • Visit your ITAD vendor's facilities to vet their process
